| Q. |
Can I alter any of the backgrounds (e.g. if I don't want a dark border at the top of one of the slides where the title would be)? |

All of the backgrounds are JPEG images, so you can put anything on them, like pictures, text and tables, but the picture itself can’t be altered, at least in MS PowerPoint. |
| Q. |
Would I be able to add and subtract as much material as I want or can I only write in the text boxes? |

Of course you can, that’s why templates are editable. You can enlarge text box or move it, or insert your pictures in it, do whatever your presentation require. |

| Q. |
I am having a problem with one of the templates I just bought. For some reason, I am only getting 2 masters for the template. |
| A. |
Your template itself contains 2 backgrounds, for the first slide and the common slide. Unfortunately, PowerPoint by default supports only 2 slide masters. The third slide in the template is the special printing slide, it is a file named print.jpg in your download. You can use it to create a common slide.
To set it as a background do the following:
1. Open the presentation
2. Click on the slide with the right mouse button
3. Choose "Format Background"
4. Select "Picture" tab, then "File"
5. Specify picture and click "Apply" |
| Q. |
Then I print my slides or convert
them to a PDF-file a dark square appears at the bottom of the
picture! |
| A. |
There is a gradient at the bottom of the
second slides. If you get this problem just try to remove it
from your presentation. To remove the gradient please do the
following steps: 1. Open your presentation 2. Select
from main menu "View -> Master -> Slide Master" 3.
Click once on the bottom of the slide to select the
gradient 3. Press Delete or Del key to delete the
gradient 4. Close master view and save the
presentation. |
| Q. |
How do I use the print slides to
print handouts? |
| A. |
For Color Printer: 1. Select the
slide(s) you want to print from your presentation. 2. Click
"Format" menu and select "Background". 3. Under "Background
Fill", click the down arrow, "Fill Affects", then click the
"Picture" tab. 4. Click "Select Picture", find the folder
with the print slide you want, and then click the file name,
and click "OK". 5. To apply changes to the current slide,
click "Apply". For all slides, click "Apply To
All".
For B/W Printer: The directions below
start out by making a copy of your presentation. This way you
will have one copy for presenting and one copy used strictly
for printing.
1. Click the "File" menu and select "Save
As..." 2. Create a new name for this copy of your
presentation (like: my_presentation_copy.pot) and push
"OK". 3. Click the "View" menu and select "Master" and then
select "Slide Master". 4. Click the "Insert" menu then
select "Picture" then selet "From File". 5. Select the file
ending with "_3.jpg" (example: Turquoise_3.jpg) and click
"OK". 6. Select the image (by clicking on it) and then
click the top icon in the Drawing Toolbar (draw icon) and
select "Arrange" and then select "Send To Back". 7. Now you
can "Print" and "Save" this file.
You now have a copy
of your presentation you can use strictly for printing on a
black and white printer. |

Animated Templates
| Q. |
How do I make your animated template transparent in PowerPoint? |
| A. |
Flash clips cannot be transparent in PowerPoint since the transparency mode for Flash is not supported in PowerPoint.
This also means that you cannot overlay flash with text.
|
| Q. |
I used the template and made a beautiful presentation. All of the animation worked when I downloaded it and created my presentation. When I pulled it up to give the presentation, there was a big X everywhere where is animation. What’s wrong? |
| A. |
A. It must be the following problem: when you save presentation PowerPoint compresses an animated GIF by default and that's why the animations are lost.
To turn compression off (but only for the current presentation):
1. Choose File and Save As
2. In the Save As dialog box click Tools
3. Choose Compress Pictures
4. On the Compress Pictures dialog box, click Options
5. On the Compression Settings dialog box that appears, remove the check next to "Automatically perform basic compression on save"
6. Optionally remove the check next to "Delete cropped areas of pictures"
7. Click OK to dismiss the Compression Settings dialog box
8. Click OK to dismiss the Compress Pictures dialog box
9. Back in the Save As dialog box, you can either go ahead and save or cancel. The compression options you just set will be preserved either way.
If you've already inserted any pictures, be sure to do this BEFORE you save your presentation. Otherwise it'll be too late. Your pictures will be compressed when you saved. |

Templates vs. Backgrounds -
What's the Difference?
| Q. |
What's the difference between
templates and backgrounds? |
| A. |
Templates
are "pre-made" presentation shells. When you apply a template
to your presentation, the
Title Master and Slide Master (text slide or secondary slide)
are already available for you to insert text. The typeface and
font color and size are already set. There is also a print slide
available to be used as an alternate background for
printing. (For how to, see this.)
Backgrounds
are just the .jpg images sold separately from our template
volumes. Users who purchase just the backgrounds should feel
comfortable formatting and designing their presentations from
scratch, including: . Creating title and slide master
pages . Choosing proper placement and size of text .
Selecting the proper typefaces and styles for Headings,
Subheads, and Body copy . Creating their own custom color
palettes, custom bullets, etc. |
| Q. |
What's the difference between POT
and PPT formats? |
| A. |
POT is a
template format - "pre-made" presentation shell. You may
create any presentation and save it as POT-file. After that
you may apply that template to any new or exisitng
presentation.
PPT is a
PowerPoint presentation format. In case you'd like to save POT
file as PPT you have to choose in main menu File - Save As...
and choose PPT in 'file type' drop down
menu. |
